Today the field at the u19 SA Boys Championship was cut from 123 players to the top 60 and ties, four of our junior players have progressed to the next stage of the competition.
Four of our juniors have made the cut in the SA Boys u19 Championship as the field was cut from 123 to the top 60 and ties. Tomorrow the field gets cut again, this time to 32 as the Championship enters the matchplay stage.
The SA Boys u19 Championship is a WAGR ranked event https://www.wagr.com/events/south-african-boys-u19-championship-53189 and one in which many of the US College Coaches we work with follow. Positive performances in these events help our players demonstrate their quality to the coaches.
2018 FP Markets Race to the USA winner Barend is currently lying in 7th place on -3. After rounds of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1) following on from his steady performance at the Cape Province Open where he finished 3rd with rounds of 69,73,68,68. So five of his last 6 competitive rounds have been under par. Coach Roope will no doubt be following Barend’s progress closely as he joins the University of Toledo programme in 2020
Liam who is a 2020 US College recruit played some fine golf today as he carded a -3 69 today. Liam is now +1 for the tournament and lying in T18th. Liam has been in solid form recently and is looking forward to the challenges lying ahead.
Tiaan is a 2023 recruit and is lying in 31st place on +5 after a very solid round of +1 73. Tiaan has demonstrated a great deal of resilience and maturity in fighting back yesterday from two very challenging holes.
Josh a 2021 recruit who has been in fine form recently got off to a flying start in the championship but who faced a few challenges on the course today. Josh is lying in 51st place on +8.
